Orthostatic hypotension (also known as postural hypotension and, colloquially, as head rush) is a sudden fall in blood pressure, typically greater than 20/10 mm Hg, that occurs when a person assumes a standing position.
Orthostatic hypotension is substantially more common in tall patients.
It may be caused by hypovolemia (a decreased amount of blood in the body), resulting from the excessive use of diuretics, vasodilators, or other types of drugs, dehydration, or prolonged bed rest. It also occurs in persons with anemia.
It can be a side effect of certain anti-depressants, such as tricyclics.
The disorder may be associated with Addison's disease, atherosclerosis (build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries), diabetes, and certain neurological disorders including Shy-Drager syndrome and other forms of dysautonomia.

Are you young and petite? I am, and I have this condition called Neurally Mediated Syncope. Look it up online, see if the symptoms sound like you. The only test for this is called a "tilt table test" which is not that bad if you don't have this condition, however if you do, you will faint during the test. This sucks but is not that bad because then you are diagnosed and can start on medications. It is not a life long condition, once you start treating it and doing the right things you can start to improve and not need medicine all your life. It's actually very common in young, petite people. Check out the website below and see if this sounds like you. If you get the tilt table and are positive, check back in with me if you have any questions.. I've been dealing with this for about 6 months now and it's really not that bad, especially once you've been diagnosed. It answered a lot of questions of health problems I've had over the past 8 years. Good luck!

I have naturally low blood pressure. If I haven't eaten much I get the same feeling. It could be because your blood pressure is low, so when you bend down and then stand back up it takes longer than normal for the blood to go back to your head, causing you to become dizzy. Just make sure you eat regularly and maybe take some iron vitamins...

It's called postural hypotension, and it happens because you aren't drinking enough water. When you stand your blood flows towards gravity, and if you don't have enough volume, which water provides to some extent, you don't have enough blood going to the brain and you feel dizzy.
