In our band, there is this senior who has been in the second jazz band (there are two bands: Jazz 1 and Jazz 2) for the past three years and this year, she has been practicing like there is no tomorrow so she has chances of making Jazz 1. The results came back and it turns out that a sophomore took the spot that the senior has been practicing so hard for. That sophomore just came out of surgery and never practiced for the try-outs. Everyone says that the sophomore just has natural talent but I see a different side. He never practices, he ditches class and he hardly pays attention. So does it sound fair that a sophomore who never makes an effort and has this attitude where he could care less, take a spot that the senior has been practicing so hard for?

I don't like the situation because a lot of people treat the sophomore like he is God or something. Plus, since the senior made Jazz 2, 1st trombone(we share first trombone) *again* the senior decided to drop out of jazz band because there were people who led them on saying that the senior will be in Jazz 1.
