You will never know what is going on in the minds of people. Some may disapprove, some may simply be puzzled, others may be thinking cool. You will never know.
Simply understand that each person has their own thoughts, ideas, experiences, prejudices, likes. Honestly, as long as those who disapprove are not doing you harm, does it matter?
If you are that curios or bothered by it, simply ask people if they find something wrong with you and your wife. Most will try to pass it off, but some may tell you the truth. You must simply be willing to listen to the answer. Who knows, you might actually take a person and turn them around.

Yeah, who gives a shi* what those dumbasses think? Ignore them, you can't please everyone and there is no rationalizing ignorance.
