There is a difference between truly helping someone learn something and just giving them the answers... so to a certain extent, I completely agree. What I find most annoying are people who provide the entire answer so that all the student need to is copy/paste.
I see nothing wrong with GUIDING a person towards an answer... but the reality is, most people don't know how to do that. In fact, there are teachers who do nothing but information dump lectures. And there are millions of people who "learned" that way in school...so that's all they know. The other reality is that people want those 10 points, so they'll do whatever is necessary to get the asker to choose their answer as best... which usually means handing over the ENTIRE answer instead of merely HELPING the person.
Anyway -- I find the cheating extremely annoying and feel that people who provide the entire answer, instead of HELPING the person learn for him/herself are just helping them cheat. Oh well -- they'll find out soon enough that they can't cheat like that for everything.

As a teacher...i can tell you that most kids just copy off of their classmates anyway. If answering a question on here, why not take the time to explain it in a way that the student might actually learn the reasoning behind it and learn. If you believe in the theory of social interaction, then the process of interacting with people on here can in fact be beneficial to the learning process.....plus i really want to get to level 2.

I agree with you. I never answer any of those questions. #1 because I don't know the answer myself or #2 that is what mom and dad is for. They are supposed to be sitting next to them helping with their homework. Internet access should be restricted. #3 Go to the Library. That's why those were created so that you can do your research there and they have educated and qualified librarians there that can help answer those questions. That's how it was when I was in school.

Hey i figure when i answer these questions i am learning something so maybe one day i'll take a job away from one of them... and they are not overwhelmed we were overwhelmed and we walked to and from school. Did'nt have our mommys and daddys picking us up. This generation coming up are a bunch of whimps get everything handed to them on a silver platter and yes they can't spell. I don't feel sorry for them at all.........Flo

I don't answer; kids need to come by knowledge the old fashioned way; by researching and studying.

You read my mind. I was just thinking about the number of homework questions on this site. These kids are learning nothing, people are doing their work for them. This is the next generation and it's scarey to think they'll be totally thick.

I don't think they're lazy I think they're overworked.
They have way too much homework after being in school for 6 hours....coming home and doing another 3-4 hours of homework is just wrong.
I'm not the only one who thinks so....pediatricians all over the country are beginning to address this issue.
Our children are getting burned out and parents need to pay attention.

Because public schools are so horrible, I always wonder if they're being taught anything, or just expected to memorize. Sometimes by explaining something to them, they might learn or comprehend or understand a little bit.

Because I get two points:)
Seriously, I don't answer when it's apparent they want all the answers. But when I think that they want to know how to do a stumper, I try to show how it's done.
