Are you referring to communism in the former USSR ? In fact, that type of communism was a threat to the US, but more of a threat to its own people. Its government was corrupt, most of the people lived in squaler, they were an expansionist government, and they made threats to the United States, with nuclear weapons. Communism in China, has had human rights violations over the years, but at the present time is not really a direct threat to the United States. They have adopted western business models, let the people keep what they earn, the central government has better control over the local governments, resulting in less corruption. I don't have the time to explain why we consider the war over communism basically over, other than to say, the USSR does not exist any longer. We accomplished our mission. We did not give up. For more information on the difference between communism in the USSR and China, do a yahoo search. Type in Communism in the USSR and China. Two different types of communism, just like two different types of democracy as are the United States and Venezuela.

Communism was just a bogeyman, never a serious threat. Some guy named Straub thought we needed a national enemy in order to inspire us to be good upstanding Americans and avoid decadence. He influenced a whole school of thought in national politics that whipped up fear over communism, which was also an effective technique for getting votes and handing out huge defense contracts. After the fall of the Soviet Union, these people focused their attention on the grave moral threat posed by Bill Clinton. The "vast right-wing conspiracy" Hillary talked about was quite real. Now their new bogeyman is terrorism.

No they are just quiet about it and leave everyone else alone to do their own thing. In other words they are not blowing anyone up. So they concentrate on the real threats. Johnston was communism fobic and seen one under every rock and took the country to war in Viet Nam. But now they have moved on to more serious threats.

The war against communism effectively ended when the Berlin wall came down along with the communist governments of the East ( Poland, Russia, etc.) Our fight now is with a more insidious form of tyranny called terrorism where anyone can be a target...

The Chicoms are now the lead mule of the communist world (what's left of it). Truman fired McArthur for wanting to take them on and with good reason. We would stil be fighting that battle if we had any troops and resources left.
Rather than fight the Chicoms and their allies in all out war, our big business politicians are allowing them to strangle us economically.

Of course man, you are absolutely right; start over with the communists and when you finish with them continue with all the witches from the past. You guys are Gods anyway, whatever you do is justified in the name of America!

Communism is no longer spreading to other countries. Our mission was always to stop the spread of Communism and we accomplished that task.

I think we've helped enough people fight their wars.
If we want to help people....there's a whole continent full of them who are dying by the millions.
