They say that the maximum healthy weight to gain during a pregnancy is 25 lbs, just enough for the actual baby, the amniotic fluid and uterine sac.
Gaining 70 lbs definitely isn't healthy, whether you're pregnant or not. Gaining more that what is deemed "healthy" weight gain not only increases the possibility of complications for the mom, but also for the baby.
Pre-pregnancy, I too was at a healthy weight (5'8", 128 - 130 lbs.) and physically active (ran at least 3x/week and worked out with weights). I gained exactly 25 lbs. with my 1st first daughter and 30 lbs with my 2nd.
My advice to you would be to, obviously, eat healthily. Don't use pregnancy as an excuse to overeat, especially junk food. Yes, a pregnant person IS eating for 2, but, again, it's not an excuse to overeat. Eating a proportioned (for the stages of pregnancy), well-balanced meal WILL provide nutrition for both you and your fetus. My other advice would be to keep active. I'm not talking about running a marathon, although some women do, but walk, swim, etc.
Best wishes to you!

No one wants to put on a ton of weight while pregnant. Depending on how big or small you currenty are, a normal person should gain 3-40 pounds, if you are underweight that number could go up, and if you are a bit over you should gain a bit less. You can do your best to plan on counting callories, but some days you wont be hungry at all and some days you will want to graze at the fridge all day long. To answer your question I gained 28 pounds with my first and I 39 weeks along with my second and as of last weeks visit I have gained 19.

Stop worrying so much. I found Bradley Birth class to be the most beneficial thing. They focus on nutrition, not weight. It is a three month long class where they discuss all aspects of childbirth, and they monitor your diet as you are going through. I gained 40 pounds, but was constantly being yelled at (by doctor and others) to gain more. Just remember to take a good multivitamin that your body will absorb. (It should have lots of B in it and make you want to puke if you take it on an empty stomach.)

well with my 1st son i gained 20kilos, i went from 45kg to 65kg and once i had him went straight down to 50kg. and i stayed that weight until i fell pregnant again i am now 8 months pregnant and i have put 0n 11kg so far and i am all in the belly.
i suppose everryone is different. i would worry more about not putting on the weight then putting it on. weight gain is healthy during pregnancy, for me i just kept up my walking after i gave birth and after 6 weeks i would do about 50 sits ups before bed. i live in a 2 story so a walk up and down alot of stairs a day. i wuld say thats what helped me lose the weight again.
i hoped i helped u a little. sorry i dont know how to convert kilograms into pounds.

I put on 17 lbs with the firstbaby, 19 lbs with the second and 25 lbs with the 3rd. I was very small when I got pregnant the first time, very active, a runner. The second baby, I didn't run anymore, except for running after the first baby. The 3rd baby, I was over weight to begin with. I never took off the baby weight between babies, I would try to avoid that if I were you.

I gained a healthy 45 lbs. I was 117 before I got pregnant and at the end I was 163. I have almost lost all of the weight and belly jelly. I wouldn't limit yourself durring your pregancy, but don't over do it.

I gained 22 pounds with my pregnancy. Sounds to me like you will do well, you plan on eating healthy and keep on exercising too. Just be careful with the junk food, sometimes the cravings can get to you, but just eat those junk food cravings in moderation.

My doctor wanted me to gain about 40 lbs, when I gained close to 50 he was fine. My baby weighed 8 lbs 14 oz, and was perfect.
