Hair is dead cells, you can CUT it all you want it won't hurt anything.
However, you should be very cautious about COLORING or PERMING or doing any other chemical alteration of your hair while pregnant, as many of these procedures can let small amounts of chemicals into your bloodstream (through skin absorption or breathing in the fumes) and this MIGHT be bad for your baby.
I don't think any problems have been PROVEN, but why take a chance? It's only for a few months.

Your friends here are great I fully suggest you follow their instructions since there are so many old time "wives tales" concerning Women's issues such as menses and pregnancy. These developed from ignorance and superstition. My mother was an Italian immigrant and yet she read enough to find that most of the things her mother told her about these things were untrue. My wife is Cuban and she tells me all kinds of tales that Spanish women have related to her which are untrue about pregnancy and menses. Most of the cultures of the world have these stories passed down from mother to child. Thank goodness we have the Internet these days to finally get the best of both worlds, The unique aspect of a cultures influence on us which makes who we are and unique, but the factual reference that makes our lives so much richer and sweeter with the truth too. May I suggest you try some of the websites below in my source list in case there are other myths you might have missed here. Best of luck with this pregnancy...

That's not true. People say not to cut your hair when pregnant because you could be making a rash decision due to raging hormones. My aunt did that when she was pregnant and started to really gain weight. She felt so fat that she thought if she cut her hair really short she'd feel lighter and have less work to do on her hair. So I think that's why they say it...women do it out of frustration and then regret it once they've had the baby and want their long hair back.

I am pretty sure this is said because many women (me included) get to the point they feel so unattractive they want to do something to feel better about themselves and have a tendency to make a drastic change-like having all of our hair hacked off. Which often ends in tears and a long time trying to grow it back. If you want to cut your hair get a trim or a few layers. Don't go crazy with it....trust me.

Sounds like a superstition to me. It's okay if you cut your hair when you are pregnant. Many women continue to highlight and color their hair when pregnant with no problems.

you can cut your hair while pregnant, and you can color it while pregnant, i'm not sure about the wether you should perm it or not. some women's hair won't hold a perm while they are pregnant. and if you want your hair colored have your stylist use semi permanent color instead of permanent, you don't have to process as long so your not exposed to the chemicals as long.
