sounds like you need a foundation that is right for your skin tone. The purpose of foundation is not to darken your skin but to even it out. Any attempt to change a pale complexion with foundation will always result in an ugly make-up line. I recommend purchasing a foundation that blends well with your skin tone. I know this can be difficult especially if you are purchasing it in a drug store. I personally use Prescriptives brand foundation, the counter workers will find an exact match for you....bye bye make - up line. After you've applied your foundation you might use a bronzer to add some color to your tone. Just remember you are trying to enhance your appearance , and a noticeable make-up line around your face is anything but attractive. Also be kind to yourself and accept the color of your skin. Confidence is one of the most attractive qualities you can have. Good luck...

Try changing your foundation to Bare Mineral Make Up. I use Bare Escentuals and I have Medium Beige and Tan. It's a powder that is a foundation and it's one of the purist things that you can put on your face make up wise. It also has a factor 15 in it. You apply it with a brush using a swirling motion and it blends in looking natural so you don't get the line. By having the two different colours you can mix them together to achieve the colour that suits you.

Bare Minerals Foundation. Its the powder you see on the infomercials. You can also get it at Sephora. I will never use liquid foundation ever ever again. It won't come off in the rain, you need soap to get it off. If you buy the kit, it comes with a bronzer called Warmth. Just a little goes a long way. If you buy it from the infomercial, you can get the kit with all the brushes and highlighters, etc. I get billed every month ($27.00) and I get a shipment every other month with a free gift - moistuizer, cleanser, etc. It looks the best and most natural. Like I said before, and I can't say it enough, I will Never Use Liquid Foundation Again.

Iknow my avator looks like I am dark skinned, but I couldn't get a white face!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am actually as white as a ghost. I use a l'oreal foundation in the colour ivory. It is really pale and blends into my skin tone rather than making me look tanned. The key is to match it exactly to your skin colour as it does not work as a tanner, but rather evens out imperfections. I then apply a little bit of bronzing pearls on my cheeks, forehead, chin and neck. To fininsh I apply a light pink blusher from bourjois and use a large blusher brush. I apply it in a circular motion so it looks nice an subtle.

Okay, here's what I do so I don't have to use makeup. I use some of that jergen's daily glow moisturizer, but my new favorite is aveeno skin evening moisturizer (that one evens out your skin tone AND makes you a bit tanner day by day) Also a great tip if you find applying eyeshadow annoying is to put self tanner on your eyelids. It works wonders! By the time I'm done, all I need is eyeliner, maybe mascara and lipstick if I'm going to go the whole nine yards. But trust me, gradual tanning moisturizers are the best way to go, no skin cancer, no risk of applying it wrong, and you can just rub it on in the shower.

I have pale skin too, but I don't use foundation. Instead, I use powder and a blush/bronzer on my face. I use a brush for the blush and sweep on my cheekbones. Then, I lightly go all over my face, making sure to get under my chin and also my neck. This is how you can kind of control the color-blend between your face and your body. Don't forget your neck! Also, make sure you go all the way into your hairline to avoid a buildup of color along the edge of your face!

Don't mix the two. The spray has chemicals in it that over time will counteract with the chemicals in the make up and your chemical reactions to your body. Just stick with one or the other. Personally, I would stick to the make up...tan in a can is normally pretty obvious and people know it's not real. With make up, you can still give yourself a "natural" look. Good Luck!
