Maybe because the Spanish conquistador's conquered people destroyed their cultures, killed their warriors, took all of their natural treasures back to Spain. Other than that, Maybe there were just over reacting... what do you think?

Read up on DeSoto's expedition through the state. In fact, today's Birmingham News has a good article on the Battle of Maubila, where the Spanish killed 3,000 Indian men, women and chldren.

spanish had the idea of : God, Glory, and Gold


focusing mainly on glory and gold

conquering and killing the aztec and mayan populations...pillaging the villages...destroying the great empires...

word gets around
