I've loved racing cars ever since I've been little. However, I have no experience racing competitively in leagues. It's a huge dream of mine to race professionally but don't know where to get started or how. I don't have any family involved in racing either which probably puts me at a huge disadvantage.

start by signing up to race at your local dirt track. do that for a while and find your way into the mainstream (NASCAR). you need a sponsor and a team of course. i am not sure of what else to recommend to you. i wonder if there are any websites out there like on nascar or busch for you to check out? not sure.
but good luck and follow your dreams! you only live once so just because you are not familiar with the racing end of things personally, don't let that stop you from pursuing. first, get information like you are trying to do here now. second, follow any tips or leads people give you. third, be prepared for trials and errors. you may be so pumped up initially, but you could find yourself growing discouraged at some points, but you must remember, practice makes perfect. if you have this dream in your heart and soul, then it is your calling. follow your dream and for sure, DON'T BE AFRAID OR HESITANT IN ASKING ANYONE IN THE BUSINESS FOR HELP. you will be a rookie starting out, but one day when you are old and on your front porch watching the stars and the moon, you will have time to reflect on your past moments and feel good at what all you accomplished. never stop believing in your dreams or yourself.
i hope you make it to the pros one day but first we need to get you the proper tools to just get you in the starting motion. i hope other users out there can offer you some tips on beginning the new path of your journey. good luck and keep in touch with us to let us know how you are doing.
you need resources on racing so check at library's, internet, book stores, any other contacts you may have. now get a move on it, you've got some racing to do! lol

Get an old beater car and work your way up through the ranks of the local short track. You need lots of experience that can only be gained on the racetrack. Only then (and if you are lucky) will you get noticed. Hang around and talk to the older drivers, mechanics, etc. Don't be afraid to work hard or be disappointed (you'll do both). Don't act like you are better than you are or know more than you do. No one will want to help you. Remember that for every Jeff Gordon or Kasey Kahne, are hundreds of guys who never make it that far, let alone at a young age.

Don't forget Carl Edwards story--he was a substitute teacher during the week and racing at night and on weekends, handing out business cards with some message like "I can drive your car." He went to NC thinking cousin Ken Schrader would get/give him a job and get him into NASCAR racing. Schrader sent him back to MO to get more experience and look what happened. . .

find the nearest race track, and go talk to some of the drivers after the next race, offer to help them out, explain your situation. racing is a sport that anyone can get in to but it takes years of learning and alot of luck to have success with. being around the right people and developing connections is the key

Enroll in the Skip Barber racing school. They will teach you every thing you'd ever want to know about racing, get you on the track with other racers, and you'd possibly get a ride in the Barber Pro series. Gotta start somewhere. And if you want to go pro, that's the place to start.
