political agenda being addressed. Was Spike Lee's speech non-political? Is he suddenly an expert on what happened in N.O? I just wanted to watch the game and see the fine people of New Orleans enjoy themselves. I didn't want to see a guy who thinks the government BLEW UP the Levee's on purpose tell us what he thinks about what "really" went on there. If I wanted to hear a political speech I would have turned the channel. What I wanted to see was a non-partisan football game and enjoy my night off...that didn't happen. SHAME ON YOU ESPN!!!

Monday Night Footbal is about football, not politics. i wonder if they debate football issues on Capitol Hill.

Okay, I give. I'll chime in.

I disagree with most of your views. Most of all, I disagree with the idea you have that Lee somehow was going off on a rant that detracted from the game. I don't think Lee believes that the government blew up the levees. What I got from the movie, "When the Levees Broke", was that it was a well-done piece documenting many different sides and views of the storm and its aftermath. An "unbiased" documentary drawing attention to and expressing the disaster and emotion experiences by so many.

I agree with some other people responding here about how this game was bigger than just another MNF game and politics was inherently part of the night - so no, I don't say "shame on you" ESPN, I say "bravo".

I think that "anon_y_muse" actually had one of the best answers here. While I disagree with their assessment of Mr. Lee, I can see where they are coming from. But "chief" also had a great point: "So continue to be complacent and next thing you know, it will be something that effects you personally. I bet you will sing a different tune then."

I agree with you, and I'm glad I didn't see that part. I don't give a crap what Spike Lee says, if I did I would watch his movies or such.
OK Football IS NOT POLITICAL. This isn't the Olympics, this isn't one Country taking on another. This is ONE FOOTBALL TEAM taking on ANOTHER FOOTBALL TEAM. I could go on about what really happened. Also why blame the FEDS when the STATE and LOCAL blew the job so horriably. Those people shouldn't have been there in the first place. They should have been bused out, and then afterwards the buses were underwater because NAGIN IS A MORON and didn't have the buses moved to higher ground. As to rebuilding the city, PLEASE tell me where you are hearing of Mississippi and such demanding our help like N.O. is trying to.

Sorry to spoil your comfortable night home watching football with an attempt to expose the injustices that occured in New Orleans post Katrina. The fact that people aren't outraged at the poor response and complete lack of dedication of our government to rebuild a fantastic city like New Orleans makes me much more upset then having to listen to a little social commentary on MNF. So continue to be complacent and next thing you know, it will be something that effects you personally. I bet you will sing a different tune then. My personal apologies to anyone in New Orleans who reads the previous responses and thinks that your fellow americans are more interested in the senseless crap that comes out of Joe Theisman's mouth then the attempt at Spike Lee to get some reaction out of this country to help rebuild your wonderful city.

Finally! someone to out the famous Spike Lee that makes his money off the misery of his own people! A better question would be, "Can Spike Lee make a film about anything...that isn't devisive on the black/white issue? I'm so sick of this guy cashing in on his own people and wonder why the heck they don't stand up and say, "enough is enough." I worked in Houston as a volunteer taking care of these people for weeks on end and I know what happened to them. I heard their stories every day. Black and white, we were there for them... feeding them, clothing them, giving them medical care and attempting to find family members for them. We found them homes in our own communities, helped them find jobs and get their kids back in school. We treated them with all the care and tenderness we would give our own families but did Spike tell any of that? No! I'm sick of this negative rhetoric that divides our races and Spike is nothing more than a Spike in the hand of Christ. He propogates division and hinders his own people from attaining their goals by pandering to a base ideology of us against them. He's a self-aggrandizing waste of space. These were the most magnificent people I have ever served and believe me, they were far from weak in the face of adversity. Some are now my neighbors, my friends and I'm proud of their strength and thankful for their presence in a community that we now share.

If you're going to watch monday night football you have to turn the sound off. Even if they don't have an *** like Spike Lee on, just listening to Theisman for 3 hours could melt your brain.

Speaking for myself and all the people I personally call friend here in New Orleans, we believe that Spike Lee is a pimp. He is using what happened to us to promote his own personal agenda. He is catering to the poorest, uneducated ones who prefer to believe that the levees were blown on purpose to eradicate them, and close their eyes to the fact that every levee system failed, not just the one by Lower Ninth Ward. My rich friend in Broadmoor got 12 feet of water in her fancy house and is still trying to rebuild. She doesn't go around moaning that the Man is out to get her. Spike Lee fails to address all the rich white people who are just as dead as the poor blacks, all those white people died in their attics just the same as the poor blacks. Where's Spike Lee's compassion for them? When that creep came on my television Monday night, I muted his racist commentary. I live here, and he does not.

They turned a regular Monday night game into some kind of freak show. The Saints are not "Americas Team". Just play football and leave the rest of that crap to news channels not sports channels.

The poor ratings ESPN had last night prove that no one cares about the Saints except the media.

Tell me little flower, what in the world is not political. You must be kin to Nero, you want to play the fiddle while Rome burns. It appears that Spike cares more about New Orleans that your apathetic/escapist butt.
