I think that it has something to do with ATP having enegry and metabolism needs energy. But I'm not sure. Is that right or Do I have it all wrong?

ATP is more or less the "gasoline" that the cell runs on. Cell metabolism means just all the chemical reactions in the cell. Many of these are driven by ATP - this works because ATP has a very high-energy phosphate-phosphate bond; many cell processes use the energy released by breaking this bond to drive reactions forward.

Metabolism definitely needs energy which is given by ATP.

ATP is the fuel for metabolism to work with no ATP there's no energy
