I am a 46 year old woman. Back in 1992 I started having a lot of problems with pain, pressure and cramping in my pelvic area. After a lot of test they said I had Endometriosis. So the doctors suggested a total hysterectomy. this was in 1993. The pain went away for almost 10 years. Now I have the same pains ,but my doctor says it can't be. I'm so tired of taken tests. Please does anyone know if it could be Endometriosis?

Your Doctor is right. It would not be endometriosis causing this pain after 10 years. Endometriosis is created from the menstrual cycle and you have all of those organs removed. It can move into the bowel and stomach but if you have gone for 10 years, that cannot be the reason. If you had pain shortly after the surgery, then it might habe been but endometriosis can not lie dormant for 10 years.

Absolutely. The notion that hysterectomy, menopause and/or pregnancy somehow "cure" Endometriosis are old wive's tales based on Sampson's Theory of retrograde menstruation, which has been long disproved. Current research and disease knowledge has shown that if all disease is not removed from all locations, symptoms will persist. Also, the implants themselves can produce an estrogen-synthesizing enzyme known as Aromatase, thereby sustaining their own life cycle in the absence of HRT or other hormone therapies. The key is to remove all disease. Endometriosis can be caused by inflammed endometrial tissue throughout the abdominal cavity. It can escape the interior uterine wall and be found on ovaries and tubes and has been known to be a major cause of infertility. The endometrial tissue responds to hormonal changes so if you still have your ovaries, then this tissue will behave the same as if it is still in your uterus.

I'm 45 and had total hyst last year. Please be wary of these answers!! Several are completely wrong. Endo is uterine tissue growing outside the uterus not inside. I'm not a doctor but logic suggests that it could have been some tissue they missed. I had it all over my abdomen but I wouldn't be suprised if they missed some. A great website for support is hystersisters.com .It got me through a very difficult time. NOW THE BIG GUNS... GO TO A DOCTOR. If you are not happy with their answers, go to another doctor! After all they are your employee and you have the right to seek answers. God bless and good luck.

You really need to read "Endometriosis Bible & Violet Protocol" by Zoe Brown (also available in electronic format here: http://www.endometriosisbible.info ). It's about how to eradicate endometriosis disease forever. It worked for me, you will see results in only a matter of weeks. Good Luck!

I don't believe so. As far as I know, endometriosis is a condition that occurs in the uterus, so if you don't have a uterus anymore, then you can't have endometriosis. However, I wonder, did they leave the ovaries? If so, possibly you have a problem with your ovaries now?

Definitely can not be endometreosis. The endometrium is the lining of the uterus. No uterus, no endometrium. If your doctor can not help you, get a second opinion. Something is wrong with your health.
