I am not a surrogate, but I plan to be one day. I have a child of my own, she is 3. But I don't think it would be difficult at all as long as you totally go into it knowing that THIS IS NOT YOUR BABY, and IT NEVER WILL BE. You have no rights in keeping it, so don't even let your thoughts go there. Surrogates have to usually go though quite a bit of testing, and in some cases psychological council to make sure they are fit for this task. I don't know which end you are on - the surrogate, or the birth parents- but either way, you should know that there is a lot done in the process to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the arrangement.

I'm not a surrogate, but when I was having trouble conceiving, my sister-in-law (brother's wife) offered to be a surrogate for me. I thought that was the most selfless, kindhearted gift that anyone could ever offer. I cried when she brought it up. She has 3 beautiful children of her own and I will love her for even the thought wanting to give that to me.

There are two different types of surrogacy. Gestational(your egg and another males sperm) and Traditional(another females egg and another males sperm). I am doing traditional, meaning this child has absolutely no genetic connection to me, and I am simple baby sitting him and baking him in my over I until he is ready to be with his real mother and father. Surrogacy involves a lot more work than people realize including a ton of research.
