Unfortunately, teenagers have very little tolerance for other teenagers with body types different than what they have been led to believe is desireable. If you are a girl, you can estimate your "ideal" weight as follows...At 5'tall you should weigh 100lbs for a medium frame.Add 5 lbs for every inch you are over 5ft. These weights only give you a guide to what is the optimum healthy weight for you and have nothing whatsoever to do with what makes you attractive. At 13 it is hard to see yourself beyond what others see. If others call you fat then you probably feel fat and think this makes you unattractive. This is not true and it may take many years for you to realize that not everyone can fit into the mold society forces upon us. You may have talents and abilities that make you unique and may be a loving and kind-hearted person all of which make you a much more beautiful person than those mean kids who are trying to make you feel bad. Concentrate on developing your good qualities and remember that you won't always be a teenager and neither will your tormenters. Someday they may grow up enough to realize how they hurt others with their thoughtless behavior. If you eat healthy and get adequate exercise, enough to be healthy, then try not to let those kids bother you. If you have even a couple of good, loyal friends that is enough. A boyfriend is not a necessity this soon. If you make yourself into the best person you can possibly be,you will find by the time you get to college, you will be more appreciated for your inner beauty. An added bonus of not starting to date too early is that you will avoid a lot of the mistakes and heartbreak those mean girls will go through in high school. Love yourself first and others will follow.

Sometimes kids put on a little extra weight when they are around your age, but if you grow a little taller it will spread out and look good!

BUT, if you are worried about this, you CAN do something. Start watching what you eat - try to eat less sweet stuff - less sugar, and less sugary drinks like soda. Don't eat any candy or stuff like chips or crackers or cookies. Don't eat food that has a lot of fat in it, like chips or foods with butter or grease, or meat that has a lot of fat on it.

Eat more veggies - carrots, celery, apples and oranges, pears and peaches, bananas and all things like that.

And you should try to exercise more. Walk around the block. Walk home from school or join the cross country team at school - you will never see a kid on the cross country team who is fat! Talk to the coach to see if they can help you pick out some good exercises.

There is a lot of information about how to lose weight at your library and online. But don't try to lose weight all at once. That is unhealthy and even dangerous, and anyway it doesnt work. If you go on a crash diet to slim, then you will put the weight back on. You need to change the way you act so that you lose weight gradually. If you start now by Christmas you will see a definite difference, and by the start of school next year you will be feeling and looking great!

Go for it!!!!

The first thing is do you think your fat?? I can't tell you if you are or aren't. If your answer is yes, talk to your parents and tell them how upset you are and that you want to fix the problem. Also, talk to the school nurse or gym teacher to help with eating tips and good excersize programs. Sometimes when people are upset they turn to eating...make sure your not doing this....do something else to relieve strees or anger. You just need to change your life style. It will be a slow process, but you will be much happier. Good Luck!! Just remember too, it's not what others think of you, it's what you think of yourself!!!

Are the kids the ones who think you are fat... or are you truly overweight? Remember kids your age can be cruel and pick on other kids for no reason at all.

Don't worry about having a boyfriend yet. Boyfriends really don't mean anything at your age anyway. And if the boys are in on calling you names, you don't want a boyfriend like that anyway.

Eat right and exercise is all you can do, if weight is actually a problem. But remember, kids your age are vicious. They have to have somebody to pick on. If you are an easy target they will find some other reason to pick on and torture you, even if they couldn't call you fat.Try to ignore them, and look to places outside your classroom to develop friendships. Sometimes, in church groups or clubs, the kids wont be quite so harsh and judgmental.

13 year olds make fun of each other all the time. it's just what they do.

the important part is that you dont freak out and let it take over your life.

you're too young to worry too much, because you're going to change a lot during the next few years, whether you like it or not.

however, the older you get, the harder it is to lose weight and get in shape. if you want to change your body, now is the time. exercise regularly. get the most out of PE class. have fun and enjoy life.

kay so everyone else up there is mean.
dotn worry i was called that too. and dont let them get you down because your normal size and humans come in different shapes and sizes. just because the "look" is "skinny" doesnt mean thats the only look. everyone is beautiful in there own way.
dont worry about not bot having a boyfriend. its over rated trust me.
and if your still insecure with it maybe try excersizing and stuff. but dont go crazy stay reasonable. dont go on one of those no eating diets. theyre sooo bad for you and its just rediculous. =]

Your question seemed normal, at first, but anyways most likely you probably are fat, and your dad shouldn't feel bad because he's the one that's letting you eat the way you do.

No offense, but maybe you need to start eating right and exercising.

I doubt anything will help with the boyfriend part.

Hon, you're only 13 - boyfriends can wait. At that age they're not mature enough to accept you for who you really are anyway. Waste of time, if you ask me. (I didn't get one until I was like 16, and even that was a waste.)
As for people calling you fat - tell 'em if you wanted their opinion you'd ask for it.
