I recently was hospitalized to have surgery on my abdominal area. They had to replace a shunt ,and take out the old one. They had to cut my stomach , so how long will it take before I am completely healed? I had been sick for two weeks before I figured out there was a problem.

there are several factors that determine how quickly a person will heal. everyone heals differently.

some of those factors are:

-what type of surgery was done
-if the person is fighting off any additional illness/diseases in addition to the healing from surgery
-pre-existing habits such as drinking, smoking, use of drugs, or taking regular medications

also some people do not handle anethesia from the surgery itself and this can also delay the healing process.

best things to ensure a speedy recovery are to eat healthy and follow your doctors guidelines, don't do any strenous activity-but make sure to walk a few times a day once able to-this will help return the organs in your body to their normal functioning rate, and to rest when your body tells you to.

good luck

A good 6 to 8 weeks. Eating pineapple helps heal faster after surgery. It has a special enzyme in it.

Didn't the doctors tell you? Didn't they set you up on a rehab program?

The hospital should be able to tell you these things better than we can.
