Many people living in secular, democratic countries do not necessarily think that those are the desirable aspects of those countries. Just as it is uncomfortable for a secular individual to live in a religion-dominated country, it is uncomfortable for a religious person to live in a secular country, which seems not to control morality in ways they would prefer. The muslims in the West may want the income opportunities available here, but may feel a sense of comfort with what would to you be a restrictive environment in Iraq or Pakistan.

There are three different types of Muslims who live in the west:
1- Those who fled their countries for political or economic reasons
2- Those who were born in the west from Muslim immigrants.
3- Western born non Muslim and converted to Islam.
Whatever the type of Muslims living in the west, they are in a worse state than Hindus or Christians living in Pakistan. 80% of the Muslims living in the UK are exposed daily to discrimination and physical and verbal abuse!. this is a British survey by the Independent. Whatever I would say will not change the fact that you and most who answered this question hate Muslims even some of them are WHITE and Born in the west. Islam is the most tolerant religion you can read the history books and see what Muslims did when they took over Spain comparing to what the Crusade or the British did in their colonies or what the American are doing now in Iraq (Abu Ghreib) or in Afghanistan. By the way, hate can only create hate, if you cultivate evil , you will grow evil and violence....carry on!

The Muslims who emigrated here did not come here for the secularism nor the liberal democracy, they came here for the prosperity, as did the Poles, West Indians, Indians, Pakistanis etc. etc. Those who were born here and indoctrinated into Islam as soon as they could walk and talk have been convinced that the liberal western way of life is unwholesome. It's everyone's human right to try and change the society they live in so that it fits their belief system more closely; as did the British in India, Canada, Australia and everywhere else on the globe that used to be coloured pink. The UK is one of the richest countries in the world. People just work thier way down the list until they find a country they can get into, then they try to make it theirs. Everybody does it, it's not just Muslims. If they could get into Saudi Arabia, and wealth was more evenly distributed there, then they would probably go there.

The only reason you got Muslims in the western countries is because they migrated here from their home countries due to their harsh and inhumane living conditions back there.
If their countries were good enough to live in, obviously they wouldn't migrate to the west. Look at Dubai, Qatar ...etc They are financially strong and democratic countries, and you don't see people running away from that sort of countries, as a matter of fact, us westerners migrate there to get better pay jobs.
But you get poor countries with poor human rights like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia ..etc People there live their daily lives as life or death survival. so they migrate to the west for better lives and better futures for their kids.
Just like the black community who fought for democracy and against racism 60+ years ago, Muslims have a similar reason. Terrorists are destroying the image of Islam and the victims of terrorists aren’t only the London underground passengers of 7/7 nor just the world trade centre employees on 9/11, the peaceful and good people who practice Islam are also victims! And hence most people generalised Islam as a terrorist religion, thats why they find that quite offensive and fight for democracy.

first of all, most western muslims, are western born, and have converted to Islam, second of all, islam is not a sunday only religion, not to say christianity is, the laws and such of the Qur'an have been put in place to make islam a way of life as well as a religion, an islamic theocracy, is just what it is, laws are based on Qur'anic laws and the Hadith of the prophet(SWS) and his followers. We have laws in our own nation that are based on not onlt religion but also morality. Why is it so hard to believe someone would want this? The quakers use this in their day to day lives, and when all goes well, an islamic theocracy can be a very inviting form of government, however there are bad people on this earth, A question i will pose to you is, if we are so high and mighty and we are the greatest country on earth, why do we not promote democracy in our own nation as much as we do on other nations?

And its a especially huge assumption that one and all muslims residing interior the west come from elsewhere and they don't seem westerners already. i'm a westerner and a Muslim and the guidelines of my us of a are tremendous. And if i opt to stay interior Sharia regulation then i visit move to a rustic that applies it. NO it received't be utilized in even if western secular us of a your referring too. each and every us of a has its personal guidelines and that seems completely life like to me.

Muslims do not want to live in a secular society as that means a levelling of the playing field, all religions equal, all brothers, no division. It can't and won't work, the same as multiculturalism won't.

When muslims, or other immigrants move to a host country, they should be required to learn the language of that country, take an oath of loyalty and possess sufficient funds in order to maintain themselves for 1 year.
Failure to abide by these rules should result in denial of residency.

I think that most of the Muslims would move back to their country if they had a stable government. Muslims don't particularly enjoy living in secularism, but when you're in a non-Muslim country, that's the best choice.

what makes you think the vast majority of muslims don't want freedom and democracy in their countries? there is only one theocratic state in the world, iran. turkey is completely secular. syria allows freedom of religion. morocco is fairly liberal. coptic christians have existed in egypt for millenia.
you are generalising that the extremists the western media loves to portray are representative of muslims when they are a minority who are very loud and get a disproportionate amount of attention. most muslims in the west love the freedom here.
