Ask questions. Key on what he says about this or that. Tell him a joke, then say you didn't get it. This puts the ball back in his court for a moment. When he responds, the bounce it back at him somehow. Turn a phrase, like you heard it wrong, which again "you did what?" returns the matter for him to speak. As long as he's doing all the talking and you are obviously doing some in order to keep him talking, then you don't have to say much and at the same time kill the "you never talk" thing. Then you shoot him back, "How can I? You were going on about (previous question) and (last question), when was I going to get a word in?" If he sees what you are doing, you can both have a good laugh about then.

Talk about what interests you. Do you like reading, sports, movies, etc... Tell him what you find interesting and ask about his interests. Ask what got him interested in ??? in the first place. What is in the news that you can open a discussion about? Do you want to know more than just superficial information. Some discussions can tell you a great deal about anothers mindset. Ask about his favorite memories from his childhood and his worst. What is the most important thing either one of you have ever done? If you had 1 million $$$, what is the first thing you'd do with it? If you could meet anyone from history, who would it be and why? What do either one of you see yourselves doing in 10 years? 20 years? How do either one of you define personal success? What is the thing you like most / dislike most about yourself and why?
Good luck!

Ask him about his previous relationships if he has any? Let him spill out his deepest erotic stories and you will find yourself doing the same thing.. After that you will feel comfortable around him and can almost talk about anything censored or not... This will provide a good headstart to more meaningful conversation.

Ask him about his day, did he see anything interesting in his travels from his house, does he think Brett Farve should be benched in favor of Aaron Rodgers, who does he think has a chance to win the World Series of baseball, does he think the Saints game last night was fixed, that kinda stuff? Or ask him about what he thinks about TV/Movies these days in general?

There are many sites on dating and usually the first question is how do I start talking to them or how do you ask someone out, or how do you get someone to "notice" you. Many people resort to "Lines". Here are some of the funniest ways people have asked people out in Church.

At the bottom I will reveal the embarrassing details of how I asked MY wife out. (Don’t cheat read them all)

* Nice Bible
* You know Jesus?! Me, too!
* God told me to come talk to you.
* I know a church where we could go and talk.
* How about a hug, sister?

Figure out what he is into. Musuc, sports, video games, beekeeping, whatever. Spend 30 minutes a day "researching" online about that interest, so you can converse about it.

Treat the research like relationship homework.

sports? books? school? other friends? his car? your pets? his pets? do you live together? talk about the house, the furniture, merciful heavens, talk to him about ANYTHING except other guys you'd rather be with (like orlando bloom or brad pitt or something) Pretend he's not your boyfriend, but a cousin or a guy from work or something. Next thing, he'll say you talk too much!!!

Talk about what you like, what he likes, funny or interesting stories about your past life and growing up (but no ex's!!!)...he will appreciate the fact you are sharing and bonding with him. You don't have to talk about pain and sadness and embarrasing stuff. Have a good time and laugh together...

Ask him questions about himself. You'll learn alot about him doing it and it could be a way to jump into some topics that you are also interested in.
