Thats just simply Irrational.
Playing the most important game in your life, A championship match, that every Football player Dreamed Off.
And you screwed it by letting Trash Talking get into your nerves, and cost your Team a second Championship.
He could have been a Legend when they won that Championship.
Now he will be remembered as a Legendary Jerk.
It wouldntt hurt if he keep his cool for another hour.

Oh well, I will just reiterate the answer I have always been posting to this kind of question:
In my opinion, both parties were at fault. Materazzi didn't have to say whatever he did that provoked Zidane, and Zidane didn't have to criticize Materazzi about the shirt-tugging or headbutt him. There were other ways to deal with Materazzi's words that angered him; violence didn't solve anything. Both of them played a role in this incident, and neither should receive all of the blame.

excellent timing dude, NOT!?! after i'd just finished telling my young nephews and nieces that zz was a brilliant player and one to watch for skill, poise and honourable play, he goes and does that.
at least his headbut was perfect, but to let himself, his side and the whole football public down like that was a tad crazy.
this then is what makes football so fantastic. the fact that anything can happen at any time. the stronger team don't always win, and the best players at times have a "spack attack" which totally changes everything.
good on zz, he kept the french ideal for being unpredictable alive.
sorry for france and football though...
