The best way is to do it cold turkey, don't use gum, patches etc they just prolong the process.
What you have to do is think about being free of the drug and becoming a non-smoker. Don't think of it as giving up something because in reality you are gaining. You are gaining health and a longer life. This is something you should be celebrating be happy about what you are doing and don't see it as a burden.
You are a very smart 18 yr old and with only 2 yrs of smoking you should be able to do this easily.
Don't use will power, just stop, it's as easy as that.
Tell yourself how good it feels, how much more money you have, how many more places you can be in and not have to crave a smoke.
Think of nicotine as a heavy chain that's holding you down and now you are getting rid of it and feeling so good about it.
Celebrate every day that you are free of it.
You will find you have voids to fill in, that's the feeling that you have to have a smoke, this will pass and you can fill in those voids with other things like going for a walk or doing something that you have put off doing etc.
Good luck although I don't think you'll need it.

I could be a smart *ss and say don't start. But since I have smoked for 30 years I will retract that. My husband just got diagnosed with emphysema 4 months ago, and his outlook doesn't look too great, what I am trying to do, that you can do yourself is try quitting little by little, I have not found as of yet a good way to stop. I wish you the best of luck, try to stop now before it is too late. Doctors also have medications for people that want to stop smoking, try that. I can't because I take too many medications already. Go to your Doctor and ask him for advise. All the strenght in the world to you, to quit smoking.

Cold turkey. Also, it helps to change your routine a little, too. If you would normally light up first thing in the a.m. - get right out of bed and into the shower rather than lounging in bed.

The longer you go without smoking, the easier it will get. The first two weeks are a *****, though.

You can do it.

I was smoking for 6 yrs. and was able to quit using the patch. You do still crave during the time you're using them but if you can stick through to the end you'll be able to quit. After I finished the whole system I couldn't stand the taste of a cigarette or the smell of one for that matter.

the best way to give up smoking is to not smoke for 4 DAYS
in that amount of time you will no longer be addicted to smoking
you will only crave it
find a productive hobby to suppress the craving and soon you will be ok

Cold turkey!!! And take it like a man.

It's only gonna bother you for a few days. You haven't smoked that long anyway. If you think you need help, try the patch.

research the effects on your body. hypnosis worked for me. the first month is the hardest. seeing and smelling them is the worst,. and the pressure to continue socially. just remember the facts and believe in your strength to control your own hands to not light up or put them out. complain about other smokers and avoid them at all cost. it is your life.
