There's a lot to do and see. There's very little snow in Bergen in the winter, but quite rainy.

Seeing fjords (7th on the BBC-list sights in the world to see before you die) - 1-3 hour by boat.
Ski resort: Voss - 1 hour by train
Flåmbanen - old traintrack packed with sights 1 hour from Bergen
Climbing mountains - in Bergen
Go fishing - everywere
Bergen International Film Ferstival - 18-25 october
Lots of pubs/bars/restaurants
Theatres
Prekestolen - A hiking trip of 3-4 hours located 5 hours from bergen with a spectacular sight at the end!
Nice hikes walking distance from the centre

There's also a lot of great parks and museums/sights such as:
aquarium
old town
fish market
funicular
Nature and science museum
Botanic garden

If you want to learn norwegian and make norwegian friends I recommend going (some) tuesday nights to Vamoose (located in the centre) were you can play language-games and meet people casually.

I was there about 20 years ago and remember this.

Take the funicular railway to Mount Fløyen and see all of Bergen in just 8 minutes.

The funicular railway is one of Norway's most famous attractions and the only one of its kind in Scandinavia. The trip starts from the city centre, just 150 metres from the Fish Market and Bryggen. The exiting trip up to the mountain is a magnificent experience in itself.

From Mount Fløyen, approx. 320 metres above sea level, you can enjoy the beautiful view, study the cityscape in detail and the seaward approaches and fjords surrounding Bergen.

The Funicular takes you to a fantastic area of beautiful natural surroundings with innumerable opportunities for walking and hiking. At Fløyen there is also a restaurant, cafeteria, souvenir shop and play area.

The Fløibanen funicular runs daily from early morning until 12 midnight in the summer season, and until 11 p.m. during the rest of the year. The funicular has easy access for prams/pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Wear a lot of ski coats cause it's freaking cold and snowy all day!
