A Sonic Boom is a Shock Wave much like is felt from an explosion. If a person or a piece of property is close enough to the source of the Sonic Boom the resulting wave has the effect of an impact by the transfer of the energy carried in the wave to the effected object.

Sonic booms sound like a large and nearby explosion. They have been known to break house windows, but to break a car window the vehicle traveling faster than the speed of sound would have to be very close to the car. I am 46 years old and have heard them many times before they were outlawed. It was kind of cool at the time, but they would have become a nuisance in no time.

Hey, I'm old enough to remember when sonic booms were common place over US airspace. These things are so loud they can break glass, crack walls and send items flying off shelves inside houses. I have even heard of plumbing being damaged in the 'old days'. Of course nowdays ultrasonic travel is confined to restricted airspace and oversea flights. (too bad for the fishing boats!)

A Sonic boom is essentially sound waves, with little destructive capibility - although it is possible.

Think of a thunderstorm, you can often 'feel' the thunder vibrating around you. This is similar but on a lesser scale

yes..and that's not all

sonic booms were also claimed by farmers to stunt the growth of their animals, put chickens off of laying their eggs, and all sorts of items that they claimed against the government because of fighter pilots going supersonic over their farms at very low altitudes.

and of course, breaking windows, mirrors, household plates, cups, glasses and other items susceptible to breakage due to frequency, pressure or vibration.

Well haven't you ever played the game Street Fighter? Guile deals physical damage with his sonic boom. He also destroys crates, barrels, and vehicles. I think he should be arrested.
