I'm thinking of getting a new iPod. I currently have a 4g Mini and would really like the 30g. However; I'm concerned that I won't be able to get the songs off my current iPod to transfer them to the new one. I've noticed that not all the songs that I have on my iPod are in my iTunes library. They play fine on the iPod, but if I try to play them on iTunes when my iPod is hooked up, it says it can't find the file. I'm guessing this is because I downloaded them from a different computer.

Does anyone happen to know an easy, sure-fire way of transferring the files from your iPod onto your hard drive and back onto a different iPod? Will I need to uninstall/reinstall iTunes or will there be no problem? Help?

If they're not on your ITunes Library, I recommend a software called Tune Tools For IPod. It costs about $20, and will let you transfer from your IPod to the computer, or from one IPod to another.

You can't transfer songs from your iPod to your computer, or from iPod to iPod. At all. It's the one thing that kind of sucks about the iPod.

LOL...after I posted I read some of the responses above. Sounds like 3rd-party patches. Try those, but I'm always a little wary of em.
