Judging everyone elses comments, I think you are alone..oh, wait...I hate them too. For all of you liberal panty-wastes who think they're a good thing, obviously don't know what they've been up to lately. How does defending NAMBLA grab you? (no pun intended).

The thing I hate most about them is that they claim to support individual rights, then consistenly ignore the existence of the 2nd amendment. They're not too great when it comes to stuff like what they perceive freedom of religion to be, "freedom from religion".

The guy who might be my future senator (Ned Lamont, ughhh) is related to a long time ACLU President who was an admitted Marxist and a suspected communist party operative. When you see the name American Civil Liberties Union you can't help but think they're a good cause to support; and therein lies the problem. I don't think they'd get nearly as much support they do if everyone who supported them really understood they were just operatives of the far-left agenda who care more about power than individual rights.

Why do you hate the ACLU? The ACLU stood up for the GOP's right to freedom of speech and challenged Campaign Finance Reform.

You hate an organization whose sole purpose is to safeguard the rights and liberties of ALL Americans? Why, then, you must be white, middle-to-upper class, christian. You don't want anybody else to have any rights, just you and "your kind." What you don't understand is that the ACLU is at least partly responsible for your ability to choose the church you want to attend, for you to freely vote without restrictions, for you to not be subject to unreasonable searches of your home, car, or person at police whim...and on and on. They've fought for you even though you hate them -- what a bunch of nice people, huh? ;-)

Oh I second that emotion!
ANY organization that will go to the highest court in the land to defend the rights of "The Man Boy Love Association" to exist (a club for men who like to have sex with little boys) IS a dangerous and destructive menace to our nation.

The ACLU is like Charles Barkley, you hate him unless he is on your team. I certainly hope that you can make it all the way through your life and never need them. I personally want them on my team if I need them.

They are way off base most of the time. They have been taken over by idealogs that are way far left of the the kookie left wingers that control the Democratic party. Not unlike most Universities these days. Instead of a warm environment for innovative thinking, Universities have become a hotbed of control over any speech but liberal speech.

No, don't hate them. They can be a bit wacky at times but I certainly like having a group around that is a watchdog for Constitutional violations with respect to civil liberties etc.

Re: the comment on KKK above-- hey, I may not like what you have to say (e.g. KKK, nazis etc.) but in this country you're allowed to say it. I don't condone the KKK or what they stand for.

You are aware of the fact that the American Civil Liberties Union is responsible for many of the freedoms that you enjoy on a daily basis as a citizen of this country, right?

If you really love freedom and civil liberties, you would hate the ACLU.
Communists, terrorists, and America Haters love the ACLU.
