For one thing, not all teenagers swear. I'm 17 and I don't even say damn very often, only when I'm really upset. However, I completely agree that most teenagers do in fact swear a LOT. I think it's a combination of popular culture (TV, music, etc.), rebelion against adults, and the fact that a lot of kids hear it at home.

You must have forgot what it was like to be in highschool. Kids swear for the sole purpose of swearing. It makes them feel grown up i guess. They might not be able to do it at home,so whats a better place than school, where you can use it to rebel. If it bothers you that much, look for an opening in a convent. ****

I guess for me, it's just a habit. I swear when I'm angry, frustrated, stressed, or a little too sarcastic. Which happens a bit too often, I'll admit. It's not like I'm trying to sound like an idiot, it just kind of happens. Definitely something I need to work on.

I don't think it is necessarily a teenager thing, I thing it depends on what you think is ok, in my household my parents cussed a lot and so did my sisters, but the thing is I don't. I think some teenagers do it to seem cool, but others just don't do it. I think it kinda depends on how you were raised and what you were taught. Even though my parents and sisters cussed my parents kinda swayed me away from cussing and now I don't.

They're still trying to find their way to express themselves, meanwhile they are using everything that sounds right to them which might just be the f word... It will always be like that. And most likely they are only like that when they're away from their parents! They'll find their way, then when they get to your age they'll be asking the same thing. : P

They gotta try to be super-cool fresh gangstalishious people. Seriously, you swear a lot and their parents probably do too. They gotta learn it from somewhere. And also probably because they can get away with it.
