You can spray paint styrofoam triangles that look like Christmas trees then decorate them by pinning on tiny decorations.
Take a clear vase and fill it with colour balls.
Alot of recipe books have how to make dough decorations or pot pourri .
I take big ribbons sold at a dollar store and put them on my doors.
Buy a small tree, get miniature decorations, at the dollar store and put them on.
Make your own wreaths or candle holders, materials available at walmart.
On pretty stationery write letters of grattitude to your friends and family. Make your own Christmas cards and gift bags.
You needn't spend alot of money.

You can do alot with photos! It isn't that expensive to make really nice things. Wal-Mart has the nicest prices and selections of frames. We are going with Target giftcards... I'm sure your family would think that was cheap but people can buy what they want with a Target giftcard and the ads are always so exciting, maybe they can put your $5 or $10 card toward soemething... I hate when family and others make one another feel bad about GIVING. That is ridiculous, stressful and sad and against Jesus. Oh well, some of my relatives are that way, too.

Mince pies, brandy or rum butter, chocolate truffles. Here's a recipe for the last of those.
Ingredients for chocolate truffles
1/4 cup heavy cream
8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, cut in small pieces
6 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
Chocolate vermicelli
Rum flavouring (or real rum)
METHOD
In a heavy, small saucepan, heat the cream to almost boiling point. Remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate, butterand flavouring. If necessary return to heat for 30 seconds while stirring until chocolate is completely melted and well blended.
Pour chocolate mixture in a shallow glass or plastic container and refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.
Prepare an airtight container with greaseproof paper lining. Roll a teaspoonful of the mixture in your palm into a ball, coat with the chocolate vermicelli and repeat the process.
Transfer the truffles to the prepared container and separate layers with additional greaseproof paper. Cover tightly and keep refrigerated. Makes around 35 small truffles.

If you have children, have them do several pictures and chose the best from each. If you don't have any but can draw or paint chose some good examples then scan into the computer and reduce to about 3"x3" and print multiples. Cut each out and laminate. Apply magnetic sheeting to the backs and give an assortment of refrigerator magnets. Otherwise you can use clip art and color with colored pencils before you scan or even color copies of favorite family photos.

Instead of giving cookies, to which Christmas is usually and over load of cookies anyway... Why not give cookie DOUGH !!! Make a variety of doughs (( be sure to test one cookie from each set of doughs out by baking it to make sure it will bake up nice for the recipient )).
Package these doughs in waxed paper in the form of logs. Roll up and then cover with suran wrap then a layer of tinfoil. Label with the flavor type and baking instructions YOU created out of some cute labels.
Finally wrap them in fun paper, twisting the ends and tying with a ribbon and name tag, making them look like a giant piece of wrapped candy.
Store in frig till ready to give or even the freezer. The recipient of this dough can now freeze them and have cookies much later in the year when all the pounds are shed from the holiday!
I have done this for years and my recipients love it !!! Especially the older ones who find it difficult to stir sticky cookie dough due to lost strength in their arms !!! They simply slice off a cookie and bake it...how easy!!
Merry Christmas !! : )

Any type of baked goods / photo albums for close relatives / ornaments you decorated yourself (like the clear glass ones) / buy plain cheap picture frames at the dollar store and embelish them yourself / a set of plain notecards that you can decorate yourself / a coupon book that the receiver can redeem later (like for a carwash, a load of laundry done, a load of dished washed, etc...)
