definition. Do you think that a beautiful flower, for example, would be as beautiful if it lasted forever? or is the fragility and temporary nature of it the most beautiful part of it?

wow! that is a deep question! but a great one! (sorry so late...can no longer access this while at work).
I think part of the allure is the temporary nature....but I don't think I find something beautiful any less beautiful for the same reason.
but the temporary nature makes it more exciting....more appreciated....and makes it more enjoyable because it's beauty is fleeting...

It is beautiful out today!
I think that the fragility of things is what makes them beautiful. If the flower lasted forever, no one would appreciate it. It would just blend in with the landscape.

You must be about my age ... perhaps you remember some of the experimental art of the sixties? There were several artists who showcased transient phenomena, I particularly remember one who put crystals between glass slides and let the punters watch its slow but beautiful destruction as the hot light from the projector vaporized it.
Another let blobs of paint dissolve in clear water. A few minutes of swirling patterns and then nothing.
Isn't this what makes the natural world so enchanting; nothing is ever exactly the same, and don't we say variety is the spice of life?

Ooooh what an interesting question!!!

Hmmm...I guess it's fragility is part of it's allure. Just as a beautiful sunset is more beautiful because it doesn't last. It's a fleating moment in time that only our memories can revive.
