To clarify small business - part of the definition is that it has less than 500 employees.
Now, to define what a "successful" business is, that's hard to say.
You can have an internet business where 1 guy is making a million dollars while another one has 20 employees making several million. A 1 man army working out of his home might not look as successful as a guy who has a huge office building, managing a bunch of people.
I personally admire the underdogs. These are the people that come from having barely anything...and through great adversity, accomplish something through their own burning passion to succeed.
I consider this as being more successful than a big company that started from a bunch of people that got spoon fed.
Although their are many stories, there's one guy that I highly respect and has done quite well (on his own) just in a matter of a few short years using a highly "successful business model".
You can find his story below.

The Answer here is quite simple...
The success of an internet business is not down to the product, the company or the compensation plan...
Its down to the people involved with the business i.e You.....
It doesnt matter how good the product, company or compensation plan is. If you are not building your business properly and effectively, you will not succeed.
The Internet business is the vehicle, YOU are the driver. If you cant drive or are a bad driver, you will not reach your goal or destination.
Learning how to be successful in an Internet Business or Network Marketing opportunity is crucial if you want to succeed.
If you would like to learn how to do this, very easily, mail me, I will be glad to assist you... good luck

Probably running a web site. But there are variations on that depending on how much of a scam artist you are. For example you could set up a website and advertise it - and offer fantastic prizes like digital camera to anyone who phones up the premium rate number at £2.50 a minute to enter the "free draw" - the company keeps them on the line for 3 minutes - you get around £6 a time. People have made millions like that. Ring tones at £3 a throw are a good scam too. Porno sites do well. the old "Do you want to be a model" scam works well. so does the "X-factor" do you want to be a star. All that can be run from a web site. plus you affiliate the website with anyone who will have you. Fill it with advertising. Take a look around the net and smell the green stuff! lol In the meantime - look at my site - just using the 15 Mb from my ISP - check out every page - look at the hotlinks to Madonna, Britney, Google video, news, click a few adverts and see what is being advertised - especially the "money making" ones. My email address is on the bottom of every page - if you want more info.
