I have a dime that is normal color on the back side and copper colored on the front.

Where can I find a reputable appraiser in the Southern California area or internet?

I think dimes are copper. They're just nickle plated, like quarters and, well, nickels. Could be wrong though, but it sounds like the plating just wore off.

It may have one of the layers missing, for dimes since 1965 are what is called clad coinage. You do not give much detail. Is there an image of Roosevelt on the copper side or is it blank? If there is an image it maybe an error coin. There are many coin dealers in your area, but I would get hold of Ken Potter first. He is number one when it come to error coins.
