It depends on what country you live in. Try searching online for 'mantis ootheca buy' and add the name of your country.
Of course, in some countries they won't last very long, and the oothecas are only sold for use as captive pets - it's normally illegal to introduce alien insects..! If you're in America there are several native or naturalised species, so you should be okay. You'll have to wait to hatch them out though - they normally hatch out in early summer! If you hatched them now they'd freeze soon enough ... maybe if you look at images of ootheca (egg sacks) online you might be able to spot some in the wild ... then you could take it home and hang it on your rose bushes ready for next summer..!

I distribute Beneficial insects for a living. Preying Mantis are great for a first grade show and tell, but are too slow to be practical.
So, I can assume that you have either Aphids or Spider mites?
Aphids can use lady beetles to reduce the population and cucumerous mites will eliminate spider mites because they eat them! you can access my e-mail through yahoo answers if you wish to discuss this more!

i'd say so that you could envision your interior of sight puppy save like PETCO or PETSMART. in the adventure that they do no longer have any, ask in the adventure that they are going to be getting some or in the adventure that they receives one for you. (Asking in the adventure that they receives one for you should quite likely make you pay better for it). in case you nonetheless cant get one, attempt checking interior of sight shops, (no longer chain-shops). Im no longer particular the position you should get some on-line, although, sorry :). I also owned a pregnant lady and were given an egg sack. It takes a TON of work to make certain they hatch, and also you eventually end up with a good number of mantids. So i does no longer recommend getting an egg sack. i wish this facilitates!

I bought an egg case once at a bug museum in Victoria British Columbia Canada. It was neat raising them. You have to feed them fruit flies until they get big enough to tackle other prey.

Find a natural history teacher who has them in a tank in her classroom., then talk her (him) into giving you a pair.
