What happened to the family? Where did they go and why is Lucy being so mean to everyone?

Ruthie is in Scottland Lucy had a miscarriage over the summer and has not gotten over it Carlos and Mary now have 3 kids 2 girls and a boy. Mary is planning on becoming a teacher. She might get to fill in for a basketball coach while on maternity leave Sarah had a cold Kevin and Annie want to get into the house remodeling business but Lucy disapproves

Lucy lost her twins, they never said "how". And I think Ruthie (along with 3-4 other cast members) will only be making guest appearances meaning they wont be regulars on the show like before. I think the show is supposed to focus more on Lucy and Kevin now.

Ruthie is studying abroad in Europe. And at the end of last season, Lucy was pregnant with twins. I think she miscarried, which is why she's a little psycho right now. (I hate that I know all this, by the way.)
