Yes, you can report something that happened in the past. Various states have different statutes of limitations on crimes against children but many don't even start to toll until the child reaches 17 or 18. You should also see about counseling for yourself. If you get back in touch with your family, you can keep an eye on your sister and report anything that might be happening to her.

Was it verbal abuse or physical. I think verbal abuse happens in the best of families..say if you were naughty and did not do what you were told. You get shouted at without swearing. Its the latter is more serious. It all depends how bad the abuse was. Perhaps if you talked it over with a counciler. You will be able to get things off your chest and put the past behind.. You dont have to take things any further unless you feel you have to.

YES , the past you had makes you a witness. So, I would start by contacting the local social service office in your area. They may direct you to the office in your mother and sister's home town. They of course will have to investigate to see if she is currently abusing your sis. Hope you and your family get help! :)

Depends on where you live, how old you were, and if there are any signs of this going on with your little sister. If your family don't talk to you because of this then its their loss.
Depending on how long ago this happened you may be able to reconcile everything, but the fear will never go away. Just look for the signs and go from there.

yes you can you can report abuse anytime and you should do it. Do you really love your sister enough to let her live through what you did and maybe worse? What will happen when she gets older if she lives that long and finds out you chose to let her live like that? Is your sister being abused? are their signes any signs small or big? It is your responsibility as her brother to save her life.

Contact the local authorities (police etc) to report your abuse. Although, without any proof other than your word against your mother's I am not sure there's much that likely will happen though.

Do you have any contact with your sister? I would ask her how things are going and if she's ok...if she isn't, then take action. There isn't a statute of limitations on child abuse, espesially child sexual abuse.

It may be too late to put her in jail, but you CAN protect your sister. Report what happened to you so she can be protected.
