Common sense is the sum of prejudices accumulated by the age of 18 or so, it helps you survive, eg. don't cross the road without looking etc etc. it's the primary thing that helps humans and animals survive. However once that's in place and one starts thinking beyond basic survival strategies it's the biggest barrier to any creative or intelligent thought. Common sense and ignorance go together very well, they're natural bedfellows.
By the way I'd like to call on common sense more than I do, thinking has got me into loads of uncomfortable situations.

Yes! I do. And I'll take an ounce of common sense over a pound of book learning any day. Have you ever noticed that some of the most educated people do not have a lick of sense.
