I am looking for a birth control method (other than a condom) that won't make me gain weight. I was very interested in Depo-Provera until I read that 70% of the patients tested experienced weight gain. I'm not obese or anything, I just don't want to gain any weight right now.

I would not go with a UTI...people are saying it is safe *now* but that is what they said before...then women had tons of issues and it was taken off the market.

I'm on NuvaRing and its not bad. You have to put the ring into your vagina for 3 weeks, then take it out for 1. As long as you don't have a problem with putting your finger (fingers) into your vagina, then you are good to go. Not a lot of side effects (if any) and you don't have to remember to take a pill everyday!! :-)

You know I'm on the pill and I have experienced any weight gain. I have been on the pill for 4 years now and still way 108. I think birth control just affects some people. Some people gain weight. I just stay a bit tired all the time. Some people stay with constant yeast infections, headaches, and pimples. It all depends on your body.

I am not a doctor, but I think all oral contraceptives cause a slight weight gain due to the increase in estrogen. The only contraceptive that does not cause weight gain is an intra-uterine device ("IUD"). These are implanted into uterus by your gynocologist and removed when you want to conceive. Ask your doctor.

Myself and some of my friends had some issues with the Depo shot, with weight gain - I don't recommend it at all. (Only plus was that I didn't get a period - at all). I would go with pills - those are generally the easiest.

I think birth control effects everyone differently. But the nuva ring works for me.
