I am a freshman is college and I have to live in a dorm for my first year college. I live in a suite style dorm with 4 other people and every night they bring over a bunch of friends and watch TV in the suite lounge. Every night they are loud as F@*k, and almost every night I tell them to keep it down, but they keep doing it, bringing friends over and playing Xbox as loud as the can. I’m kind of a loner and don’t like hanging out with people, I keep to myself in my room and don’t bother anyone. I am also a light sleeper; I need it pretty quite to get to sleep, so it is very hard to get to sleep at night when they are being so loud. This makes waking up for my 8am class very hard. I guess my question is should I stay the full year in the same suite or should I transfer to another college next semester, live with my parents during that semester and get a job to save money for my own place?

Why not see if you can switch rooms with one of their friends?
If that doesn't work, go to the housing office & see if you can get into a different room. I had friends who did this Freshman year.
You can also study in the library and use ear plugs when you sleep.

What do you want? If you hate living there the answer is obvious, move. You can try to transfer dorms, if you have extra time that will not affect your classes and studies get a part time job and save up to get your own place. Talk to your parents and see what they suggest, parent love these kinds of questions. Worst case get some ear plugs and put a rolled towel or blanket at the bottom of your door to help keep the noise out. I don't think changing schools is the answer, there is much more to do than you realize if you jump and change schools and much to consider. Do you have a scholarship? Who is paying for your tuition? If you have a loan does it have stipulations?

Are those your only options? Doesn't your dorm have a resident assistant and rules about quiet hours? Are your roommates SO immature and inconsiderate that you all can't sit down and discuss some compromises? If the situation is completely unworkable, aren't there other dorm possibilities?
The very first thing I would do is ask for your R.A.'s help in mediating the situation (if you don't feel you can collaborate with your roommates on your own).

jeez, I thought I was the only one out there. I am such a light sleeper. I moved apartment-didn't really help tho so tis a bad idea. Hey ya gonna have it for another yyear too poss. Typical first years-NOISY!! if you want quietness(which i know how important it s) best save! It'll be a few years tho( your parents are clued in right, Buying a place costs ALOT! but anyone that is the only place ya gonna get it your way- either move out or SUFFER! I did for a while-ain't worth it mate!
Pointless moving to another college-there are twats everywhere-just move apt.

I'd say start hanging out with your roommates! Why not make the most of situation? You can become friends with them and then after a while, you may all get along. Then, if you do have to get some sleep, you just tell them and they would be cool about it.

Those punks are a bunch of pigs, typical of the young people today. Ideally, you should push them against the wall, tell them to shut and and show some respect.
However, if you can't do that, you might want to be more polite about it and if that doesn't work, I guess leave.

I kinda agree with the first person who answered ur question....but if u dont want to. I suggest you yell at them to keep it down because ur trying to concerate or whatever it is ur doing.....but I would tell them to quit bein loud because ur a roomate too, they need to respect you and u need to respect them because ur all sharing the dorm anyways...

1st choice would be to try ear plugs. If that doesnt work, maybe you can join in once in awhile.
