i have an old air rifle that i would like to restore but need to find out how old it is exactly

Thanks for your question.

I would take it to an antique dealer or gun dealer and see if they can give some information about its make and manufacture. You may also wish to take it to a gunshow and see if there is someone there with knowledge of that particular weapon. Antiqueguns.com has an ask an expert section so they may be able to guide you in the right direction.

Go to your local public library. Ask for books on Rifles/Guns and Value.

There is a good one called "Standard Catalog of Firearms" The book is by Ned Schwing.

You may also want to call a local gun shop and ask if you can bring your piece down to be evaluated. Sometimes there are local gun shows, too. The gun shop would have information on that, too.

my best guess would be to contact the company that made it. if you can't find out what company made it, you could take it to : A gun show, a toy/hobby show, or an antique show...they would most likely be able to give you some information on it. if all else fails, take it to your "Restorer" and he might be able to help you. I hope this helped.
