I was just a kid but I remember a gas station with a great big sign that said .28 a gallon....my parents smoked and they paid between .25 and .35 for a pack

I think it was different depending on the area you lived.....My dad made between $75 and $100 a week

Oh my did your ? make me feel old lol. But when i was 15 gas was 26cents a gallon and the station attendant would check your oil and wash your windshield for you and also check your tire pressure. Cigaretts were I think about 30 cents a pack and that was for Marlboro's and what are they now? You could pull in the gas station and get $3.00 in gas and have darn near a full tank. My first job paid $1.75 and out of that I paid my mother and dad room and board made my car payment and bought my own clothes. Sure wish we could go back in time it was alot simpler then.

aaaah! The devine Ms. M,
Well, you have two great answers already. I joined the Air Force in 1965, and I remember about a quarter a pack for weeds, and 25 to 30 cents for gas.
People were always bumming back then too. Then is when I first heard that old bit of wisdom...Gas, Grass, or ***; Nobody rides free!

(P.S. oops, sorry 'bout the A** word.)
