While anyone at a tattoo shop would say it is fine, they are the ones who get paid to do them, so can that really be trusted?

I say that if you want the tattoo bad enough, then waiting another 2 months shouldn't be a big deal, just to be safe. It is a known risk that the ink has a chance of entering your bloodstream, and seeing as your bloodstream is connected to the babys, I would think that Ink would have some adverse effects. Not to mention that the skin on your whole body is going to contract a little after delivery, so tatoo may be distorted as a result.

Smoking one cigarette while pregnant will not necessarily harm the baby, but it could; worth the risk??

My advice; just wait two months, get your tattoo as a gift to yourself for making it through childbirth like a champ :)

I know it blows, i had the same question, around that time, im 8 and a half months pregnant... give or take and i wanted to get another tattoo, so i asked my doctor and they just said NO, plan and simple, i asked my tatoo artist and he found out that its not necessaraly the ink ot the possiblility of hiv or whatever that can harm the baby its the .... endorfins ... the natural drug your body puts out for pain that can harm your babys nervous system and/or brain...so its NOT safe for the baby for you to get a tattoo, have fun being pregnant, then later, go nuts with tattoos, there addicting so watch out!!

it would be better to wait until after the baby is born and after your six week checkup!! If you're gonna breastfeed, you should wait until after you stop breastfeeding! The ink could harm the baby or cause complications and depending on the size of the tattoo, it could cause some unnecessary bleeding!! The artist doesn't like doing tattoos on pregnant women and most won't!!

No, and any good artist won't do it! Also some people have been known to pass out from it. Your body can go into shock from that (not talkin traumatic shock) where you might experience lightheadedness, feelin cold... on and off for up to 24 hrs later. Also unless u r close personal friends w/ ur artist and actually watch him make his needles, and sterilize them I wouldnt want to take any chances w/ baby. Its almost over, so hang in there, be something to look forward to get for urself, and after the baby u might be glad u waited c/ u want something diff anyway.

It is best just to wait till after the baby is born. You are at a higher risk for infections while you are pregnant. Plus if you get an infection the baby might get it also and it would be harder to treat because you are pregnant.

No tattoos while preggo. Sorry. It causes surges of hormones in your brain (from the pain) that could be very unhealthy for you and baby.

Wait a few months, have baby, and then get your awesome, long-wanted permanant mark.

P.S. the ink really isn't the worry. it is the surge of adrenaline that would send you into premature labor.

No, the ink goes into your bloodstream and could affect the baby. Plus there are other risks for disease that you dont want to open yourself up to. Same thing as staying away from people with colds. (And I think you cant give blood for a year after a tattoo... so it wouldnt make sense if you were pregnant to get one...)

If I was you I wouldn't get no tattoo because imagine if something goes wrong and your baby needs blood and ur the only one that has the same blood type like him.But your luck is that you can't donate him no blood because of your tattoo so maybe you would want to think that again. It's up to you but i wouldnt.

It's as safe as if you weren't pregnant...only you put 2 lives at risk of getting Hepatitis or HIV or an infection instead of 1.
