rohannesi...
Dont you think by cutting off the money they will find differant ways to get it like robbing and kiddnaping and dont forget drugs is a world wide market, it is not something that any country want to get rid of including the USA. If we wanted to get rid of drugs we would destroy the fields in which they grow. Why do you think we destroy labs in this counrty. We dont want people growing the **** here when we can get it from other countries.

really, i don't think it can be won. because you aren't fighting a country or an organization, but rather an idea. right now we are creating terrorists faster than we can kill them, so our strategy isn't working. we need to stop always supporting israel against the arabs no matter what, and need to make it clear that we support human rights, no matter who is violating them. we also need to reach out to the disenfranchised of the musim world, where the vast majority of terrorists come from. we won't eliminate terrorism completely, but we can stop giving al-qaeda and other groups easy recruiting tools by appearing to be ona crusade against islam itself

For those that say it can't be won, that maybe true, but it can be lost. No one tool is going to end terrorism. What we can do is make the US safer. We can keep the fight off US soil and keep it overseas. We can hunt down their resources, which will limit the capacity in which they can attack us. For those that mistakenly think that the war began on 9-11 they need to remember:

10-83. Marine barracks Lebanon
12-88: Pan Am Flight 103 over Scotland
02-93: World trade Center
06-96: Khobar Towers
08-98: US Embassies Kenya/Tansania
10-00: USS Cole
09-01: World trade centers, Pentagon, United Flight 93.

This is a war that is not going to be won in a generation, or even in a century. We cannot judge this war by "victory", we judge the war by us surviving.

The war on terror can be won by disbanding the secret services. They are the ones who commit the major terrorist acts, like 9/11, 7/7, Madrid train bombing, Bali bombing, Lockerbie air disaster etc.
Once they have gone, then the Muslims will return to peace, and terrorism will be completely ended.
The war on drugs is the same thing - to close down private drug operators so that the CIA has total control over the distribution of goods, and use the money for secret ,unaccounted-for operations which forward the agenda of the New World Order.

You can't realistically win the war on terror. It will take dilligence, intelligence gathering, diplomacy for many, many years. The best I think we can hope for is to disrupt those networks, capture the bad guys and get to relationships with people that they are not as willing to conduct terrorist acts.

Terrorism has been around for many decades (at least). There will always be somebody P.O.ed about something and willing to fight using those tactics.

Will never win the war on drugs either--- people will always find a way to get high.

There is no realistic way to win the war on drugs or the war on terror. The only way to win the war on drugs is to make it legal, tax it, regulate it - thats the only way to do it. As far as terror goes, you can't really win a war that isn't a conventional war. There are terrorists all over.

Remember when Bushie said we probably couldn't win the war on terror?

The Democrats said this is no time to declare defeat.

The Republicans told him quietly in the background, we know Georgie, but don tell anyone.

also....
I agree with Charlie B when he says no one tool will beat terrorism. Not even if it is a huge tool like George W. Bush.

the war on terror has no end.
we are at least not avoiding the war on terror anymore.
the war on terror will be going on when we are old and grey.
the rise in terrorism was predicted way back in the 1960s in shows like Star Trek. Khan is an enemy in the Star Trek series who was a terrorist from the 21st century.

not winnable,, shame on Bush,, his cheer-leading abilities, have not made our country safer or stronger,,,, he chose to invade a country, based on lies,, with no connection to 9-11,,, we need more troops in Afghanistan like Clinton said,,, and more accurate and actionable intelligence,,, and continue to hunt the worlds #1 terrorist responsible for the attacks of 9-11 believed to be hiding in Pakistan where the drug traffic is horrendous

You can win a war against a country, but you cannot win a war against an idea, against something that has no absolute form.

Both can not be won. Especially when there is too much money to be made from both.
