Who's trying to eliminate poverty? That's not the point. God judges our worthiness by how we treat the poor. The poor will always be because this life and this world are the means, not the end. We know, love and serve God in knowing, loving and serving the poor. Not to mention all the good that we're doing for ourselves in the process.

I would have thought they were one and the same... or at least go hand in hand.
But I have heard about people who work but still live in their cars because they don't earn enough.
It would be nice if everyone had the same opportunities in life - how do we get to the stage where that happens?
