One, your enemy can surrender. Two, you can take away your enemy will to fight. Three, you can take away the resources of you enemy so they can not afford to fight. Now are we doing any of the three to win this war on Terror?

Good case. But that is your interpretation of war, i.e. the old style wars. Nowadays, in the context of the 21st century wars --whatever they are called -- a fight between two or more parties for ideological or economic or other reasons are not won and lost the same way, with due respect. Nowadays, even a small minority can fight its way to a majority and win its case ( I will not call it a war -- since the two parties do not confront each other with known arms and armies etc.)It does get more complicated as we expand the definition of war and what we are fighting for -- in the case of terrorism....my feeling is that the west has put "terrorism" on the map and now wants to deal with it their own way. Enough said. Make your own conclusions -- all are valid.

Yes , we are taking away the resource for them to fight.... there are many ways for a war to be over. But you are losing your prospective in that this war will never be over until the Islamic sect changes their views on what an infidel is and the infidels right to exist in the world. Until this happens no one will be safe and the war will never be over with these types of Terrorist. If we the people of the free world don't understand that one thing about the Islamic Faith, then we are truly doomed to die or to be converted to Islam. The theories of winning this terrorist war do not apply in this situation. The Islamic sect have been fighting someone somewhere for over 2000 years.. and they are not going to stop. They see it as their duty to Alla to convert or kill all infidels. Some just do it thru kindness and some do it through the sword or gun or bombs. Either way this war of terrorism will continue until Islam reverts this way of thinking and teaching to their young.

It's not about a "war on terror" or "fighting for freedom". It's REALLY about THIS!...

1) surrender is not likely

2) will is not likely to diminish

3) AHA! You can stop driving and you can stop buying ANYTHING plastic and you can stop heating your home and THEN, maybe, you'll dent the terrorists' financial resources...maybe.

Another way is to pummel the opponent into irrelevancy. In that case, yes.
