President Bush and his henchmen are planning to build a virtual fence along the USA /Cdn border. This is supposed to be part of the fight against terrorists yet no known terrorist has come into the US via Canada. (One was caught crossing from British Columbia but was caught by US Border Officers when the RCMP warned them he was going to cross.) Will a fence mean that Condelisa Rice is going to have to climb over to see her boyfriend Peter MacKay (Cdn Minister od Foreign Affairs.)
This fence will cost the American people tens of millions of dollars. If they are so intent on fighting terrorists, perhaps they should build the fence beween Afghanistan and Pakistan where bin Laden crossed, to hide in the mountains of Pakistan. At least they would be able destry the Taliban in Afghanistan without a never ending stream of more terrists crossing the border. Just a thought! What are your thoughts.

I agree completely. The world's longest undefended border disappears. A friendship between 2 countries destroyed. Up till now we have enjoyed a unique relationship.
There will be 2 losers: Canada and the US.
It also communicates something interesting to less 'civilized' countries. - that our brand of civilization doesn't really work.
Oh - I wonder who gets the contracts for building the 'Great Fence of America'. Would it be friends of certain politicians by any chance? Something worth looking into.

It's a sad decision by the US... that will forever seal the cool relations with the US and Canada. No longer can we boast that we have the longest, undefended border in the world.

Not only is the US closing itself-off from its enemy’s, it's shunning its "best" neighbour.

You have to wonder, what ultra-conservative genius identified the Canadian border a threat to the US.

They are proposing guard towers, ROV's, electronic surveillance etc... Living in a Canadian border town will soon feel like living next the now defunct East & West German wall.

I feel that this would fuel any hostility that the two countries harbour towards each other. I like the US. I enjoy visiting the US. I would feel that putting up a fence would be like a slap in the face. I think that those who are stupid enough to try and terrorize the US through Canada should be shot on site. Say no to the fence people!!! Let the peace between us continue. If we tried to fight, there is no way we could defend ourselves from the US. We need you guys, don't shut us out!!
