You can say almost anything you want. That is free speech.
What you cannot do is make specific threats against a person, for any reason. It doesn't matter why you are threatening them. The fact that you are making threats of violence means your speech is not protected. That's been the rule for most of a century now.
As far as putting up a billboard, there are specific rules for what can be advertised on public versus private land. Again, you can say anything you want, within the same general rules that apply to everyone else.
So, minority don't get any special treatment. Whether they are the minority being insulted, or the minority that is making the insult.

Well, your question is one that people on all sides of any debate could ask. I wonder why anyone's freedoms of speech, thought, life, etc are being infringed upon. For example, abortion. I do not believe in abortion - HOWEVER....who am I to say that someone else SHOULD NOT or CAN NOT have one? It is not up to me to judge what is right or wrong for someone else in their personal life. Same goes with homosexuality. I think it's gross...not the people - the act, but there again - NOT MY LIFE, NOT MY BEDROOM, not my business. I have gay friends and they are well aware of my feelings and they respect me for them just as I respect them for their rights to be who they are. I could no more dislike my best girlfriend for sleeping with a smelly, sweaty fat guy...it's gross to me, but hey - not my life. I bet that if you shared your opinions and feelings in a respectful manner, rather than preaching like a biggot...you wouldn't be hated for them. That's what living with freedom is about, it goes hand in hand with respect. But we're talking about freedom, not propaganda...why should you even want to invest the time and energy, not to mention money into putting up that billboard? I know it's just a figure of speech, but what point would it serve? Yes, we are allowed to have our thoughts and opinions, but so is everyone else. Could you imagine if everyone was allowed to let their biased feelings out without any control? No one would be safe from ridecule and hate would overtake us all. No one should shove their "morals" and personal beliefs down anyone else's throats. Why do you care what someone else does in their personal life? Are you that insecure about your own life and inhibitions? So long as you are living your life the way YOU think is right - don't worry so much about what others are doing. There are so many other things - positive things that people can get fired up about, but it always seems to be the hate issues that get people out of their seats. It's a sad state of affairs. And as for your feelings that the minority groups get all their free speech heard, well that's because the rest of "us" don't do anything about our freedoms until AFTER we lose them. We complain about the laws / gov't / issues...but "we" don't get out and vote. Minoritys have something to gain so they get out there and fight for their rights...plain & simple.

Why do you feel you have to put up a bill board? can't you just keep it to yourself? You sound like a control freak. I am for free speach as long as it doesn't infringe on other peoples rights.
God in his infinite wisdom gave us free will knowing some of us would choose the wrong way. But he felt it was so important that we have a right to choose. That is why a lot of people hate religion. Because they want to picket against anything they don't like. Let's force them to change. Force them to prayer in school.
Would God want someone to be forced to pray to him?
There was an interesting article about freedom of religion. Freedom of actions and freedom of thought. It said, "why has every invention been in the USA from planes to automobiles to sewing machines to computers. cotton gin and electricity.
Look's like by accident one of the other countries would have came up with something. The reason they didn't? They put all their time and effort into forcing their views on people from politics to religion. They were against any free thinker or creative thinker. They wanted to control the masses and that is all they did. Squelched any idea different from what they wanted.
They killed the man in Europe who said the earth revolved around the sun. It was only in America where a man discovered he was right and everyone could see that. If you don't like homosexuals, don't be one. I don't and I am not one.
But mind your own business there is more important things to worry about than what some guy does in his own bedroom.
You want to check out every bedroom to make sure we are all doing it the way you want us to? Or should you just mind you own business?

Free speech is alive and well as ever before. You can say whatever you want at anytime and not to go jail. But, saying what you want, and advertising opinions that are hateful are two different things. You are confusing speech and propaganda. Your example is equivilant to justifying Hitler's hate for the Jews.
Besides, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, no one gives a sh*t. No one cares if you don't like gay people. So why waste you're money advertising it on a billboard?

the current use of the word minority was invented to show inequality, so that people could place blame and demand something for nothing. it's the american way. an intelligent person (not necessarily nice) would find a way to attack something or someone else within the laws. i don't advocate any of this...i just wanted to answer your question.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Please go back to your hometown and demand a refund on your education.
You can do ANY of things you listed above. You can say anything you want about homsexuality. What you CAN'T do is make slanderous or threatening speech towards an individual. And you've pretty much NEVER been able to do that.

You're right! Free speech is only free if it doesn't offend, make fun of, ridicule, etc. anyone. Makes you wonder what our founding fathers would think of how we have rewritten various parts of the Constitution.

You've got that right! Freedom of speech is only allowed when you agree with them. Disagree and look out. You are a hate-monger, a racist, a sexist or a homophobe ( whatever that is ). Yes, we are losing our rights in this country, but look who's stealing it --- the political left!!

QUIET YOU!!! Please place your hands on the screen as I arrest you and take you to jail for not accepting those crazy homos! I don't really know what happened to free speech, but it might be because people aren't acceptive for all the wrong reasons. Homos think that they have the same rights as blacks. (I personally don't mind them) They think that their choice of who they have sex with is equally as basic as the color of your skin. The only place that opposes those homos is, oddly enough, the governmantally funded military. yay.
