Every time I go I end up with cramp in both feet. Just starting out swimming again after a year out, and it's driving me mad and cutting my swim sessions short.

Try doing toe rising exercises with your toes turned inward (you stand flat-footed with your toes turned in and get off your heels by rising on your turned-in toes... work your way up to doing as many as you can)... this exercise will also develop nice-looking calves, don't worry; do it as you shower and rinse soap off your body...

The reason that is happening is that you are sickling your toes (turning your toes inward, like walking "pigeon-toed) while you're also pointing your toes... using muscles that are under-developed and they quickly go into spasms due to fatigue and uric acid build-up; if you sit and point your toes and turn them in while holding the toe point, you'll see what I mean.

When that happens, stop flutter kicking, get out of the water, go against a wall, and stand about a foot and a half away from the wall and lean forward WITHOUT lifting your heels! That will stretch you calf muscles and those beneath your arch (areas where you get the cramps) and bring relief. Have someone massage the areas while they press your toes up toward you (it's difficult to do this on your own; that will circulate the blood and circulate the uric acid build-up that causes the spasms... or cramps).

Yes, bananas AND tomato juices will help you by supplementing the needed vitamins and minerals lacking in your system, so I've heard from some nutrition-minded individuals. Do some stretching exercises and massage the areas you normally get cramps BEFORE entering the water; do some warm up exercises in the water before serious swimming!

Foot Cramps While Swimming

If ur just starting back ur stroke is possibly still pretty ridgid so try an relax into it a little more, dont dive straight in and sprint, do a nice easy warm up.

But I think the main thing here could be an elctrolyte imbalance. Most likely too much salt and not enough water in your system. Try and get ur 2litres a day and make sure you drink enough water to keep you hydrated before-during-after your sessions. During ur sessions is particularly important i find. Some ice cool water in between sets really keeps you goin. If this doesnt help go to your doctor and get ur salt levels checked out. But u shud b able 2 tell urself, if ur the kind of person who gets enuf salt in their diet or not... its hidden in so many of the everyday foods we eat its highky unlikely that this is the case.... So drink up! Hope this helps- Good Luck! :)

im a competitive swimmer and i get the same thing. Is it like when your muscle in your foot tightens really hard and stays like that for a while? They are said to be caused from a combination from working your muscle too hard if you are not used to it, and a lack of potassium. keep swimming, avoid stopping if possible but i know it hurts like no other so u may want to stop and stretch it out. Eating bananas or other foods rich and potassium help prevent cramps so maybe bring one to eat before class. A nice excuse for food in school too :-)

The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!

try stretching before hand and massaging your feet to get the blood circulating and the oxygen. cramp is a build up of lactic acid which happens when the oxygen doesnt circulate through your blood. if you feel it starting in the pool, stop and stretch your feet out as far as you can, if someone is there with you get them to gently massage it. if you swim on your own then try massaging it yourself but make sure you are able to stay afloat if not call the life guard and they will assist you.

Once infertility has been diagnosed, there are a number of treatment options available depending on the root cause of the problem. Learn here https://tr.im/dZvfS

Infertility is a condition defined as not being able to become pregnant after at least one year of unprotected, regular, well-timed intercourse. Women who suffer from multiple miscarriages may also be diagnosed as infertile. Infertility may be classified into two groups, primary and secondary infertility.

if youre doing a flutter kick, then dont point your toes.

I'm taking a swimming class to help clean up my strokes and my teacher says that you have to keep your feet and legs relaxed as you move them.
