I see your point - there seems to be a disconnect there.

From what I thought I knew about Jesus, I thought he was pro-compassion and pro-tolerance.

I'd think he'd say the world's problems are caused by poverty and greed, not "the evildoers who hate freedom". Good luck convincing some hardcore Church believers that conducting war is not Christ-like.

Only after he has received more than 50% signed statements, from the military personnel of each and every country involved in the conflict.. proclaiming him as their "Undisputed King and Saviour. I'm serious.. to have all of Mankind bow before him was the ultimate dream. And like his pro-war believers, he knew that the best way for one to go about getting what is desired... is to hide behind God.

I'm not saying Jesus was bad, because he wasn't; he was good. Unfortunately he was good for the wrong reasons... reasons that eventually led to his execution. No One.. should ever put themselves above another... for any reason.

We are all God's children... and that's just the way it is.

If Jesus were alive today, and he did approve, would you still call his followers hypocrites? Would you then change your personal anti-war views, and become a hypocrite?
How can we determine what Jesus would think? He was created in the image of his father. Isn't his father in a war with evil? A war which has raged for eons? Who can really say what Jesus would think? You are wrong to assume that Jesus is anti-war. In the end, isn't there supposed to be one final, last great battle? Wouldn't that be a war? Aren't there supposed to be great armies clashing? If we were never to engage in war, then WHY DOES the bible tell us that we will be engaged in war? When you have proof that Jesus does not want us in a war, then please show the proof, instead of retreating to the typical third grade name calling that you liberals tend to do.

Jesus has no place in the Politics part of Q&A, He tried to stay out of politics & it is what killed him, before he rose..

Why hypocrites? Did you forget the dozens of battles in Bible - Moses & Egyptians at Red Sea, Joshua & Wall of Jerico, David & Goliath, & He says it will end with the Battle of Armageddon.
The only hypocrites are those who believe there will ever be peace until Christ comes again. We can lay down our "swords"
(guns) but it just means we will be dead or enslaved. Our freedom to worship our God as we see fit , I believe He would condone protecting.

He would use war as a last resort, but He would condone a just war. Look at the history of the Israelites. God was on their side in just wars.

Jesus is alive and with us today.

Unfortunately, on election day he was in a Democratic precinct in Ohio so he couldn't vote because the lines were too long.

as400_...
He didn't use war as a last resort on Calvary.

I don't know the answer to your hypothetical question, but it is a news item today, as true as anything can be, that Dumbya's OWN church is rejecting Dumbya's OWN Big Lie Iraqi Crusade.
Down with Dicator Dumbya!!!

If Jesus Christ were around today, he would have a fatwa issued on him by radical crazy muslims. Our lord would be put to death as quickly as the middle eastern nuts could get their hands on him.

Actually, Jesus is "alive." But no, he is anti-violence. Lucifer is the one that loves war.

By the way...before anyone thinks it, I am not comparing Lucifer to the Bush supporters. Just figured someone would make that assumption.

I'd say he'd condone it,

"you are to use war as and only as a last measure."
