peace, purity, in england the white rose stands for yorkshire as well (the red rose for leicestershire) a different sort of white rose is anlso an "english" rose. but yes they can be sent to funerals as they mean peace.

Here's the thing, roses can mean anything. It is what the meaning is to the people involved. Your signifigant other might give you orange roses because your favorite color is orange or you met over oranges. He/she might give you red roses because yes red does mean *love* but it could also mean a million other things.
White usually means innocence, purity...stuff along those lines.
