I'm more a fan of Hammerstein, Rogers, Hart and Bernstein.
My favourite would have to be Carousel. Wonderful songs such as "You'll never walk alone", "My boy Bill" and of course the title song.
Tied for second I would have to toss up between "The Sound of Music" and "Oklahoma". The Sound of Music I believe was first a Broadway show in the late 50's and was transferred to the silver screen in 1965. Personally I would have to choose The Sound of Music if only for the better storyline. Oklahoma was weak in this respect but it had some wonderful songs, "If I loved you" being one of my favourites.
I couldn't have a list of musicals without a Berstein. His most famous is "West Side Story". Natalie Wood captivated my young heart with her beauty. Great film and great songs and dancing.
