Running in a zig-zag pattern is the best way to get away, but if the alligator or crocodile is too close, the best thing for you to do is jump on the beast's back and hold it's mouth shut. Alligators and crocodiles have VERY STRONG muscles for closing their mouths but no muscles to open them, so if you get a hold of the beast's mouth and hold it shut he can't bite you.

Hi. Run in a zig zag pattern. They cannot change direction very fast but in a straight line they can outrun a human.
