My computer previously played DVDs, until tonight, when it says there is not disc in the DVD drive, which there is. I tried with WMP as well, but that didn't play it either. Please help!

try this
right click my computer-choose manage-click device manager-now on the right look down the list for cd/dvd roms- double click that-now your dvd rom should show up under that-right click on that-choose uninstall-at the top of the list you will see your computer name-right click on that-choose scan for hardware changes-the computer will find and reinstall the dvd rom-now try
if it still doesnt work try going to the laptops manufacturers website and download the latest driver. good luck

Try another disc. If that works it porbably the disc. If not check to see if the computer is recognizing the drive as a dvd drive. Have you made any changes to your hardware configuration? Like recently added a cd burner. Make sure the jumpers are set correctly. (Wich was my problem on one occasion) If its not being reconized as a dvd drive and you havnt made any changes you can try updadting the drivers but chances are somthing has malfunctioned.

abode windows XP does no longer natively enable the viewing of DVDs. you want to have an encoder put in on your device. in case your computing gadget changed into "restored" using the CD or DVD that it got here with, you want to locate your software fix (sounds like this disk changed into separate) and shipment that software from there. If this turned right into a clean installation of abode windows XP then you honestly may opt to acquire this style of softwares. An party may be ability DVD or WinDVD. both of which will be offered and downloaded on-line. For a more least expensive value you could acquire merely the decryption software and use abode windows Media participant. which will be offered via abode windows Media participant Plugins.
