Yes, if they knew they had it and didn't tell you, then you can sue them. The issue is getting reliable proof that they knew. You'd have to have some way of finding out when their doctor told them they were infected. That's almost impossible because the doctors or nurses aren't permitted by law to tell you. There are certain diseases that must be reported to the Board of Health everytime someone is told they're infected. Remember that guy who knew he had AIDS and infected everyone he could? They charged him with attempted murder. Then raised it to murder when one woman died before he did.

I don't know about the US, but in the UK AIDS/HIV being knowingly passed on is an offence, if you can pay for a good lawyer you can get almost anything, for anything, especially if you or the passer-on are rich and/or famous.
I expect for run of the mill STD's you should ask Judge Judy, she's alive and well in the UK, in repeats. Is she still going in the US?

If they didn't tell you they have STDs, then you can charge them for assault, or if it's something even more serious like AIDS, then you can charge them with attempted murder. This can then lead to suing them in civil court where you can get money for medical bills.

If you can proove they knew they were infected before infecting you I think you can. I know if AIDS cases where people have gone to jail for knowingly spreading the disease.
How you find out if they knew, I don't know without going into medical records.

You slept with them knowing the risk of promiscuity. Of course, if you were raped then there's another story all around.

If you weren't aware of the disease but the other person was, then I would say go for it. But do you really want your dirty laundry out like that?

No, you gave them to yourself when you had unprotected sex. You can't sue yourself.

If they intentionally gave it to you then you could have them sued, but if it was consentual sex, not really.
